by exwhyzee injoining a new religion after being a lifetime jw would be like getting remarried at middle age after years of putting your heart, soul, faith, and commitment into it only to find out it was a hoax.
i have been happily married for many years and if (god forbid) i should ever find myself single one day...i can't imagine ever wanting to remarry...especially not if i had been terribly betrayed as i feel i have been by this organization..

The old big orange "Paradise" book
by aquagirl inanyone remember that?
i learned to read on that book.there were some very disturbing images,like the earth opening up and people falling into it.like upside down ladies and hippies.id love to get a hold of one and peruse it with a friend and some herbal medicine.maybe there is one in the attic?anyway,that and the image of the snake talking to the beautiful,bare shouldered eve,who was holding an apple,made a big impression on me.any else have any faves from that book?is it still being used?.

What good comes from joining a community like this for support/therapy?
by dances with smurfs inokay so if anyone can give some imput on this, i would really appreciate hearing different opinions!.
(its downright impossible to make decisions, big or small, these days....sigh).
ive been thinking alot about the possible consequences and outcome of joining in on a community like this and using it as a form of therapy or a support group type setting when struggling over the witnesses.

When this forum first opened, I joined under my own name. I had a lot of things to get straight in my head and a lot to get of my chest. The people I spoke with helped immensely and as time passed, managed to move on. I learned a great deal and and like to think that I helped others.
I hang around now as a figure of fun because this board is still an enjoyable outlet and a place to be entertained; less dangerous than the colosseum! I don't believe being here can replace friends you can meet face to face or professional therapy but it still has a lot to offer.

It is time to come of age and take responsibility for the future of this beautiful planet and the human race.

Please Tell Me ...
by snowbird inwhen i use the colloquial expression, "this here," does it irritate you?.
my mother talked - and others down here still do - that way.. she worked like a dog to see to it that her 12 children received an education.
mother deceased in 2005. one of my sisters and i like to use that expression as a bittersweet reminder of her and our victory over poverty and despair.. however, when i use it on here, it rankles a prominent poster.
